A birch is a thin-leaved deciduous hardwood tree. Being that is a hardwood it can be difficult to work with. It is generally easier to shape it with power tools than with hand tools.
Birch wood is fine-grained and pale in colour, often with an attractive satin-like sheen. Ripple figuring may occur, increasing the value of the timber for veneer and furniture making. The highly decorative Masur (or Karelian) birch, has ripple textures combined with attractive dark streaks and lines.
Once again Bumbu Toys have managed to re-create these stunning trees perfectly including their distinctive silvery trunk and green and golden leaves. They are the perfect addition to any play scape and small world set up.

These toys are made of solid linden wood, which is minimally processed to preserve as much of its texture and natural properties. Unlike plastic, wood is a non-uniform natural material that frequently has growth rings or knots, colored spots or rough areas. These are not defects – they are distinctive signs that guarantee the natural origin and give uniqueness to each toy, telling the story of the tree from which it was made.
